This Apple Crisp without Added Sugar is baked with a mix of Granny Smith and Gala apples and is topped with a delicious crunchy topping. It’s made with no added sugar and is even healthy enough to eat for breakfast!
As I’m writing this, it is officially Fall aka the best season of the year. September has been the month of apple recipes and in October we will move on to pumpkin! Of course I needed to try my hand at one of the most popular apple recipes there is… Apple Crisp… but make it healthy and make it for just 2 people!
Ingredients you will need
Apples
Lemon Juice
Cinnamon
Flour
Rolled Oats
Butter
Salt
How to make this recipe
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Toss the apples, lemon juice, & cinnamon in a medium bowl and then pack into a greased baking dish.
- Mix flour, oats, pecans, butter, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Mix with your fingers until mixture comes together in little clumps. Scatter over apples.
- Bake crisp until apples are bubbling and top is golden brown, about 35 minutes. Serve with ice cream and enjoy!
I think this is a matter of opinion. Personally, it is for me! However if you don’t think it will be for you, you can add some white, brown or coconut sugar.
Of course! If you’re not watching your sugar intake feel free to add as much sugar as your heart desires.
My answer here will not shock you… VANILLA ICE CREAM! Maybe a drizzle of caramel and some whipped cream. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture 🙂

Thank you for a recipe without added sugar or sweetener. I was struggling to find one. I’m only just recently learning to enjoy fruits (has to be cooked) and find they are easily sweet enough for me on their own and wanted to try making a cranberry-apple crisp. I’ve never made one before (having a strong aversion to fruits since childhood) and needed a template but was not interested in adding sugar. I wasn’t sure if sugar was necessary for some kind of texture or chemistry reason, so just knowing that there are tasty crisp recipes out there without sugar added is helpful to me.
