Of course I needed to try my hand at one of the most popular apple recipes there is… Apple Crisp… but make it healthy and make it for just 2 people!

Is apple crisp without added sugar sweet enough?

I think this is a matter of opinion. Personally, it is for me! However if you don’t think it will be for you, you can add some white, brown or coconut sugar.

Can I add sugar to this recipe?

Of course! If you’re not watching your sugar intake feel free to add as much sugar as your heart desires.

What to serve with apple crisp

My answer here will not shock you… VANILLA ICE CREAM! Maybe a drizzle of caramel and some whipped cream. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture 🙂

Thank you for a recipe without added sugar or sweetener. I was struggling to find one. I’m only just recently learning to enjoy fruits (has to be cooked) and find they are easily sweet enough for me on their own and wanted to try making a cranberry-apple crisp. I’ve never made one before (having a strong aversion to fruits since childhood) and needed a template but was not interested in adding sugar. I wasn’t sure if sugar was necessary for some kind of texture or chemistry reason, so just knowing that there are tasty crisp recipes out there without sugar added is helpful to me.
