Have you every had an abundant amount of pears at home and thought “what can I do with all these pears?” Well, same! Pears don’t get enough love during the Fall. They’re often overlooked by apples and pumpkin spice but they’re a seriously underrated fruit! Pears are quite the versatile ingredient too. You can use them in savory dishes like these Pear and Goat Cheese Crostini’s or in a salad like this Pear Balsamic Salad. They’re also wonderful roasted with honey or poached and go great with breakfast or dessert!

Like apples, there are many different types of pears. To be honest, there are so many apples and pears that I’ve never even hear of! I also don’t really know what each tastes like and which is my favorite. For this recipe I used D’Anjou pears and according to a quick Google search, the best pears for baking are Bartlett, Bosc and D’Anjou.

Storing your loaf

This loaf should last up to a week in the fridge in an air tight container or you can freeze it! If you plan to freeze your loaf, let it cool completely and then wrap in plastic wrap or foil. Place in a freezer safe plastic bag if you have one for extra precaution. Make sure to date the loaf and eat within 3 months.
