If there is one thing I love, it’s a good meatball. They remind me of home cooked meals and my mom’s classic spaghetti and meatballs with her homemade tomato sauce. Since I don’t eat much pasta anymore, I started making my own meat balls with a bit of a healthy twist. These Cranberry and Feta Turkey Meatballs are just that! Instead of using ground beef, I use lean ground turkey. Instead of using bread or bread crumbs, I use almond flour. And instead of eating them over pasta, I eat them with veggies. Etc, etc… Small shifts really make a difference!
These Cranberry and Feta Turkey Meatballs kind of remind me of Thanksgiving. The combination of the turkey, the cranberries and the feta is super comforting and the flavors go so well together. I love eating these over zucchini noodles with pesto or tomato sauce or simply with a side of veggies and sweet potatoes. These meatballs make a perfect meal for the whole family and can be meal prepped in a large batch.
What you’ll need:
Meat – Traditional meatballs usually use ground beef but some people make their meatballs with a mix of ground meats. Sometimes up to 3! If you’re not the biggest fan of ground turkey or aren’t worried about keeping these lean, try a combo of ground beef and ground lamb.
Cheese – I love the combo of ground turkey, dried cranberries and feta. If you don’t have feta or just don’e like it, try mozzarella! Mozzarella is a bit more melty and will make your meatballs super moist but also kind of salty so omit seasoning with salt!
Add ins – I love using dried cranberries in my meatballs but you can also use raisins or just omit them completely!
