Homemade Caramel Macchiato Ice Cream tastes like a Starbucks Macchiato in Ice Cream form! If you like caramel + coffee, you’re going to love this treat. This recipe is also made with almond milk instead of regular milk and cream, making is dairy-free!
I got the Kitchen Aid ice cream maker attachment for my mixer back in December and since then I’ve been patiently waiting for the weather to get warm enough to warrant me making homemade ice cream! The process was easier than I thought it would be and it came together super quickly. Homemade ice cream is definitely going to be a regular thing thing Summer!
What is Caramel Macchiato Ice Cream?
I know what you’re thinking… I’ve heard of Caramel Ice Cream but what the heck is Caramel Macchiato Ice Cream? A macchiato is actually a coffee drink that you can get at any cafe. In Italian, Macchiato means “stained” or “marked” and this coffee drink is called this because of how it is made. The drink is a double shot of espresso with a splash of milk. The “mark” comes from the barista adding foam to the top of the drink. A long winded way of saying that the idea for these flavors came from the caramel macchiato that I used to get from Starbucks!
How to make Homemade Ice Cream
If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can simply pour the ice cream mixture into a freezer safe container with a lid and freeze it overnight.
However if you do have an ice cream maker, simply follow the instructions and watch the ice cream form right before your eyes!
