This Homemade Tropical Fruit Salad covered in lime juice is sweet, bright and tangy. It’s the perfect side dish to bring to any dessert table and is especially appropriate for any upcoming BBQs this Summer! Real question… do you serve your fruit salad at the beginning of a meal, with the main meal or with dessert? Depending on the BBQ, I’ve seen it served at all different times. Personally, my family serves it after the main meal, with coffee and before the dessert is brought out!
How to make homemade tropical fruit salad
Start by choosing your fruits! Although this recipe is named “tropical”, you should choose fruits that you like the best.
Personally, I chose:
Cantaloupe
Watermelon
Kiwi
Strawberries
Pineapple
What to do with leftover fruit salad
Personally, I love having leftover fruit salad in the fridge! Allowing the fruit to sit in the lime juices overnight makes everything that much more tasty. If you’re not making this dish for a party, make it for a weekly meal prep! Then you will have a snack anytime you need throughout the week.
How long can you store fruit salad?
Store your fruit salad in an air tight container for no more than a week. If you leave if for longer than that, the fruit will get mushy and no one wants mushy fruit!
