This Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich recipe is the best thing to make when grilling out with friends or family! They’re different and will WOW any of your guests.

Summer is right around the corner and with Summer comes grilling season! Instead of grilling up the typical burger, try something a little different and a little healthier. These sandwiches can be customized to your liking, are easy to assemble, and are such a crowd pleaser. Plus they’re incredibly easy to serve to a crowd which is so important when hosting!

Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Sandwiches

When serving up sandwiches or burgers, don’t forget the lettuce! Revolution Farms lettuce is not only incredibly crunchy and refreshing, but has additional shelf life since it’s coming from Michigan instead of California or Arizona!

Ingredients you will need

Chicken Thighs

Pineapple Slices

Red Onion Slices

Hamburger Buns of your choice

Teriyaki Sauce

Provolone Cheese Slices

How to make Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Sandwiches

  1. Start by marinating your chicken thighs in teriyaki sauce.
  2. Slice your red onion and pineapple and set aside.
  3. Arrange your toppings on a platter including the buns, lettuce, and provolone cheese slices.
  4. Once your chicken has been marinating for about an hour, cook your chicken up on the grill. During the last minute of cooking, top with the provolone cheese.
  5. While cooking the chicken, grill up your pineapple slices and red onion slices until they have a nice char on them. Remove and add to your toppings platter.
  6. Arrange the chicken on a plate so that everyone can assemble their own sandwich and serve!
Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Sandwiches

Ingredient Replacements

  1. Cheese – you can also use pepper jack, Colby jack, or cheddar slices.
  2. Onion – instead of grilled red onion try serving with caramelized onions.
  3. Buns – replace regular hamburger buns with pretzel buns for a fun twist.
  4. Sauces and toppings – try serving with sriracha mayo, regular mayo, sweet pickle coins, or more teriyaki sauce!
